Escalators

Suck. Clear and simply. Never ever again. I'll go out of my way to find an elevator or non moving stairs.
Today Hana got her shoe stuck in the escalator at the mall. I was four steps ahead of her holding Amaya's hand because she's scared of them, but Hana and Mak have always held hands going down and up them in the past. It's never been an issue. But today Hana's shoe got stuck in the side of the escalator and the glass along side of them. She started screaming and I turned around and she was nearly sitting and her leg was twisted and I freaked and I screamed take your foot out of your shoe NOW! And she listened, thank g-d she listened and moved fast. The escalator swallowed her shoe along the side and then it popped out at the next step...still along the side of it!
I'm still crying and freaked out about the whole thing. I cry thinking about it. I had to fill out reports and all that jazz. The one thing that pissed me off beyond belief is that they had a security guard posted at the bottom of the escalators near the main exit out. He didn't move, he didn't make an attempt to stop them, when we finally got down at the bottom I was crying and I was upset and I was checking her foot and he didn't see if she was okay, didn't ask if we needed help, didn't do a damn thing! I was so beyond ticked off!!!
Fortunately Hana did get her foot out. I cry just thinking about what possibly could of happened or if she had shoes on that were not as easy to slip out of. :( :( :(
Here's her shoe. The strap was ripped out, you can see the black from the parts that went under the escalator and you can see the 4" gash along the side of it.

Scary scary scary. Please please please be careful with your children on escalators. Anything can get caught...dresses, long pants, shoes, hair, fingers...anything! If you can at all use stairs or an elevator do so. Or pick your child up. Hana is scared of them now. On our way back to the car we had to pass them again and she cried :*(
She's doing okay now but I think going out and buying her new crocs made her so. She was so distressed her shoe was ruined. (Everything is the end of the world with my Aspie girl).
